Text Box: Over the past few weeks we have had the opportunity to observe and evaluate each students skill level.  We have placed them in three groups based upon these observations and evaluations.  Group one, in general, are those students who have a good understanding of letter names, sounds, can identify and conceptualize numbers, and have good fine motor skills.  Group two, consists of those students who still need more review on  letter names, sounds, identifying and conceptualize numbers, and strengthening their fine motor skills.  And, group three consists of those students who are just being introduced to the above concepts.  We also spend more time developing  vocabulary, hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills, and basic concept knowledge such as over, 


Text Box: under, next to, before, top, middle bottom, up, and down.  We have the ability to move students from one group to another as soon as they show signs that they are ready.  If you have any questions regarding which group your child is in, please feel free to touch base with Amber.
In our language arts curriculum group 1 will continue to work the clock letters: a,c,d,f,g,o,qu,s, and review the first nine line letters: b,e,h,i,j,k,l,m,n.  We will be writing and putting the sounds together to form words.  We will introduce the syllable, and  we will also be introducing the first 10 Ayers List words; the 10 most commonly used words in the English language.

Text Box: Group 2 will continue to work the clock letters.  We want them to be able to identify the sounds, name the letters and write the letters with confidence and ease.  
Group 3 will work on strengthening fine motor skills, and general concept knowledge.  They too will continue to work on the clock letter phonograms.
In our math and Spanish curriculums the colors for the month are: black (negro), orange (anaranjado), and purple (morado).  The shape is the square (cuadrado), and the concept focus will be on patterns, graphing, identifying numbers by name, and number concepts.  Group 1 will also be introduced to number sentences.
Our thematic units will be Fantastic Fire Fighters, and Pumpkins.
